The topic will be presented by Raymond Thrower, director of campus safety for Gustavus Adolphus College in Saint Peter, Minn. During his interactive presentation, Thrower will provide participants with vital information on lessons learned when dealing with an active shooter encounter and other critical incidents as well as what measures should be taken to be better prepared. Additionally, the presentation will cover case histories, police & security response, training and communication. Thrower's presentation will take place on Jan. 11 from 4:00 5:30.

In addition to the Sponsorship, NaviGate by Lauren Innovations will be exhibiting the NaviGate product during the Summit. The Annual NASCAR Summit serves as the only annual meeting for representatives from the facilities hosting NASCAR events. Over the course of the three-day Summit, employees and volunteers come together to share experiences and gain additional knowledge regarding their roles in operations, fire & safety, medical, security and other fields at their respective tracks. New in 2011, the Summit will welcome GRAND-AM Road Racing Tracks to the Annual NASCAR Summit in addition NASCAR Home Tracks that host Developmental Series Events. NASCAR continues to welcome representatives from all tracks that host NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, NASCAR Nationwide Series, and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series events.

Raymond H. Thrower, Jr. has thirty plus years experience in higher education public safety. He has served as Director of Campus Safety at Gustavus Adolphus College in Saint Peter, Minnesota for the past twelve years. Prior to Gustavus, he served as Director of Public Safety and Chief of Police for Davidson College, in Davidson, North Carolina. Before Davidson College, he was Director of Public Safety and Chief of Police for Queens University in Charlotte, North Carolina. Ray holds a Bachelors in Criminal Justice from Sacred Heart College.

As past president of the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA), he has and continues to contribute extensively to the national and international dialog for K-12 and campus public safety. During his tenure as president, he convened a high level task force (and co-authored) to review the various reports and to make recommendations for institutions of higher education through a public safety lens resulting from the tragic shooting incident at Virginia Tech in April of 2007. The task force published "The IACLEA Blueprint for Safer Campuses" which has been read by campus public safety departments and others around the world. He has appeared and been quoted on numerous news services in the arena of campus public safety.

He serves as a master trainer for the Community and College Consortium for Health and Safety Training (C.C.C.H.S.T.);adjunct instructor at South Central College in the departments of Environmental Health and Safety, Fire and Police;adjunct instructor for Michigan State University Outreach School of Criminal Justice. He holds two national certifications – Firefighter II and a Level II Fire and Rescue Instructor.

He has extensive knowledge/experience in the area of incident command/ emergency management and has instructed institutional presidents, administrators and first responders from around the world (U.S, Canada, China, South Africa,U.K. and Saudi Arabia). In 1998, he oversaw emergency response operations resulting from an F-3 tornado that hit Gustavus Adolphus College resulting in 60 million dollars in damage.
